These bits are softer in their action than a jointed snaffle.
This makes them a good first bit as they generally wont frighten a
horse from going on the bit. They can be good for pullers, as some
horses only pull against pain, so removing the source of pain can
help. However if a horse is heavy mouthed it may tend to hang or lean
on a mullen mouth. They are helpful in keeping the horse's head straight
if they tend to tilt their muzzel and can also help stop horses "playing"
with the bit too much. A bit that can be used in any discipline.
